save your money towards a real gold top. trust me, you will make an arse of it. it’s hard to replicate that colour successfully. gibson use some kind of gold pigments in their paints i think, to acheive this finish………. though i must admit the slash LP goldtop gives me the horn.
Of course it’s possible but I would highly recommend that you have a professional do it. I had a guitar painted a few years back by a autobody shop. They actually baked on the finish and it turned out really nice! It was as good as a professional paint job you’d get on a car.
Do not paint your guitar if you do not want to ruin it since you could hurt the pick-ups and mess up the finish. The best thing you can do is to have someone from Gibson to do it i may be a little expensive depending if its a Gibson or a knock off if its a Gibson then go ahead if not then you will be wasting your money the finish will vary in price.
